In April 2011 a representative of the Croatian Agency for Science and Higher Education participated in the Component 1 of the BiH EU Delegation project Support to Higher Education Reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the role of a short-term expert in the field of recognition of foreign higher education qualifications.

The experience gained within cooperating with foreign ENIC NARIC centres and close cooperation with the Bosnia and Herzegovina ENIC office – CIP, as well as the good knowledge of the Bosnian higher education system qualified the ASHE representative to participate in this project. The tasks included the analysis of the system of recognition of foreign qualifications in BiH, which served as a basis for training of the CIP employees and teaching staff at eight public universities (Banja Luka, Bihać, Mostar – 2, Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, Tuzla, Zenica). The trainings resulted in proposals to amend the current legislation which is primarily based on nostrification and equivalency procedures, and new guidelines for alignment with the
Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications concerning Higher Education in the European Region, ratified by BiH in 2003.

The final conference of the Component 1 was held on April 27th and 28th 2011, and it included a presentation of the ASHE representative on the recognition of foreign higher education qualifications in the Republic of Croatia, as well as a workshop on recognition of foreign higher education qualifications in BiH for the members of the project work group and the competent Bosnian ministries.
