The Network of Central and Eastern European Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education, CEENQA, held its annual conference with an accompanying programme in Zagreb on the 28th and 29th of April 2017, organised by the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE).

This two-day event gathered around fifty international and Croatian experts involved in the field of quality assurance in higher education who discussed various possibilities for enhancing quality of higher education at the national and European levels.

“We are facing various social and political changes that go beyond the national boundaries and which inevitably influence us and make us think. These changes indirectly and directly affect educational systems, which fosters us to constantly think about quality assurance”, stated Vesna Dodiković Jurković, PhD, Assistant Director of ASHE, during the conference opening.

The participants were also greeted by Dr Iring Wasser, the president of CEENQA and Professor Damir Boras, rector of the University of Zagreb where the conference was being held.

CEENQA is the oldest organisation for quality assurance in higher education in Europe, founded in 2001. It gathers 29 member agencies from 20 countries of Central and Eastern Europe cooperating in the field of development and harmonisation of quality assurance activities thus contributing to the development of the European Higher Education Area.

Croatian Agency for Science and Higher Education has been a full member of this respectable organisation since 2008, actively participating in its activities.
