Representatives of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (TKTA) from Azerbaijan visited the Agency for Science and Higher Education from 16 to 18 December 2025.

TKTA is a national agency responsible for quality assurance of educational institutions. It conducts accreditation of educational institutions and study programmes, provides support to educational institutions in developing their quality assurance systems, carries out recognition of foreign educational qualifications, conducts validation of non-formal and informal prior learning in the field of vocational education, and performs other related activities.

The main purpose of the visit was the exchange of information, experiences, and examples of good practice in achieving alignment of agency operations and external quality assurance procedures with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG). This is particularly relevant as TKTA, which is currently an associate member of ENQA, plans to apply in the future for ENQA’s external review as a prerequisite for full membership in ENQA and registration in EQAR.

In addition to discussions on alignment with ESG standards, other topics were also addressed, such as cross-border evaluations and recognition of accreditation decisions of other agencies, digitalisation of external quality assurance processes, the use of artificial intelligence, and related issues.
