The annual report of the Agency for Science and Higher Education details the activities of the Agency over the past year and provides an overview of the activities planned for 2024.
In the foreword, ASHE director Assoc. prof. Danijela Horvatek Tomić, Ph.D. noted that 2023 had been marked by adjustments to the new legal framework in the area of quality assurance in higher education and science in the Republic of Croatia, as well as by alignments of external evaluation procedures with the provisions of the Act on Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Science, which the Croatian Parliament had adopted in late 2022.
“Over the past year, considerable effort has gone into the preparation of new documents which will govern the implementation of external evaluation procedures, taking into account the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) and principles of good practice. These documents are intended for higher education institutions and research institutes, as well as expert panel members,” said Assoc. prof. Horvatek Tomić, Ph.D.
Apart from a detailed overview of the conducted evaluation procedures, the third cycle of re-accreditation of higher education institutions was announced, as well as further intensification of project activities in order to strengthen the system of quality assurance in the Republic of Croatia.
The report also provides an overview of international activities; information on application to study programmes; recognition and evaluation of foreign education qualifications; educational activities and research; expert and administrative support to various bodies in the system of higher education and science; and a wealth of other useful information.
