The European Commission published the Draft 2015 Joint Report of the Council and the Commission on the implementation of the Strategic Framework for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020) in August.

The document contains guidelines on European cooperation in education for the period up to 2020. It outlines six priorities, including the improvement of skills and competencies, creating innovative environment while fostering values such as equality and active citizenship: 

  • Relevant and high-quality skills and competences, focusing on learning outcomes for employability, innovation and active citizenship,
  • Inclusive education, equality, non-discrimination and promotion of civic competences,
  • Open and innovative education and training by fully embracing digital technologies,
  • Strong support for educators,
  • Transparency and recognition of skills and qualifications to facilitate learning and labour mobility,
  • Sustainable investment, performance and efficiency of education and training system.
