On 1 October 2015 the Central Applications Office of the Agency for Science and Higher Education published the ranking lists of candidates to enrol in the first year of graduate studyprogrammes of the University of Rijeka constituents in the academic year 2015/2016 on the website www.studij.hr
This is the first time the applications to graduate study programmes were performed via the National Information System for Applications to Higher Education Institutions (NISpVU). This is the central information and administration service which generates the ranking lists of candidates to enrol in all graduate study programmes on the basis of undergraduate study programme grades, results of additional tests and other achievements.
The Agency developed its own sophisticated information system, saving several million kuna, given the high expenses of development of such systems.
Applications were carried out at all constituents of the University of Rijeka except the Faculty of Law. With a total of 2301 available places, 1500 candidates applied and request for enrolment was granted to 1407 candidates.
Based on the ratio of the number of first-priority applications to the enrolment quotas, the candidates showed the greatest interest in the following study programmes:
- The Faculty of Health Studies, University of Rijeka – Nursing – Mental Health,
- The Faculty of Health Studies, University of Rijeka – Physiotherapy,
- The Faculty of Health Studies, University of Rijeka – Nursing – Healthcare Management,
- The Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, University of Rijeka – Management in Tourism,
- The Department of Biotechnology, University of Rijeka – Drug Research and Development.
This electronic system of applications is expected to be gradually introduced at other higher education institutions in Croatia, which will significantly reduce application costs and the paperwork involved, while improving the transparency of the enrolment procedure, availability of statistical data and other information on application and enrolment.
