At the General Assembly of the European Consortium for Accreditation in Higher Education (ECA), held on 16 June 2025 in Cologne, ECA members elected two new Board members and confirmed key leadership roles for the coming term.

Prof. Danijela Horvatek Tomić, PhD, Director of the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE), was elected as a new member of the ECA Board, alongside Amélie Bensimon (HCERES). Their expertise and commitment to quality assurance will enrich ECA’s strategic direction, according to the official press release.

Moreover, Eva Fernandez de Labastida (UNIBASQ) was re-elected as ECA Chair, Ronny Heintze (AQAS) was elected for the first time as Vice-Chair, and Sebastian Steele (UKÄ) had his mandate as a Board member renewed. Furthermore, the Financial Committee members Luis Velon (ACSUG), Giacomo Annese (MFHEA) and Craig Thompson (The-ICE) were re-elected for another term.

With this balanced mix of new and re-elected leadership, the Board is well positioned to continue advancing the consortium’s mission – to foster mutual trust, support innovation in quality assurance and promote effective international cooperation, the press release concluded.
