The conference "Evaluation of doctoral studies in Croatia – overview of re-accreditation", organized by the Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE), will be held on Wednesday, 23 September 2020, at the HUB385 Innovation Centre (Petračićeva 6, Zagreb), beginning at 10 a.m. 

One of the key tasks of science and higher education is to ensure a high level of quality, which lies at the core of the activity of the Agency for Science and Higher Education. The conference will focus on the external evaluation of doctoral studies in the Republic of Croatia, i.e. the presentation of the key findings resulting from the re-accreditation of doctoral studies in Croatia conducted by ASHE from 2016 to 2019. The publication Overview of re-accreditation of doctoral studies in the Republic of Croatia will be presented. It provides an overview of advantages and challenges of doctoral education for the purpose of development of their quality and exercising a more significant impact in the national and international context. The current situation and the outlook for the doctoral studies in the Republic of Croatia will be examined based on the examples of good practice and in the panel discussion of key stakeholders from the system of higher education and science.

The conference will be opened by Prof. Dr. Jasmina Havranek, acting Director of the Agency for Science and Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Radovan Fuchs, Minister of science and education and Prof. Dr. Sonja Vila, President of ASHE’s Accreditation Council.

The main topics of the conference:

  • Presentation of the publication “Overview of re-accreditation of doctoral studies in the Republic of Croatia”;
  • Analysis of the outcomes of PhD re-accreditation procedures;
  • Findings of the expert panels participating in re-accreditation procedures;
  • Status and challenges of doctoral studies in the Republic of Croatia.

How to register for the conference?

  • To attend the conference please register here by 21 September 2020 by 4 p.m. 
  • Registering on the link above is a prerequisite for physically attending the conference and places will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • In case of withdrawal from participation, please inform us in time so that your place is given to another participant.
  • The participants will receive the confirmation and the final version of the programme on Tuesday, 22 September 2020.

Important information for participants regarding the COVID-19 pandemic:

  • Attendees will adhere to the epidemiological measures issued by the Croatian Institute of Public Health (HZJZ), which is why all visitors must wear a mask, have their temperature checked at the entrance, and attendees who have a fever will be denied entrance to the venue.
  • If you have any symptoms, such as fever, respiratory difficulties and similar, please do not attend the event.
  • Distance between the attendees will be ensured in the conference hall, and the number of participants is limited to 30.

The conference has been organized as part of the SKAZVO project (Improving the system of quality assurance in higher education), lasting from 2016 to 2020, co-financed by the European Union funds from the ESF Operational Programme “Efficient Human Resources” (2014–2020).
