Qualification

A set of integrated units of learning outcomes of a given level, volume, profile, type and quality. It shall be proved by a certificate, diploma or other public document, issued by an accredited legal entity.

Qualification standard

The content and structure of a given qualification. It includes all the data required for setting its level, volume and profile, as well as data required for assuring and promoting high-quality of a qualification standard.

Qualifications Framework for the European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA)

Instrument for establishing qualifications levels within the higher education system aimed at recognition and understanding of qualifications among national qualifications frameworks of the European Area of Higher Education.

Recognition

Formal acknowledgement of the value of a foreign educational qualification and periods of study respectively, issued by a competent authority for the purpose of access to education and/or employment.

Recognition of periods of study

Recognition of periods of study spent at a foreign higher education institution, for the purpose of continuing higher education in the Republic of Croatia.

Specialist graduate professional study

A polytechnic or school of professional higher education may organise specialist graduate study for students who have completed professional or university undergraduate study. Such a study shall last one to two years and a student shall earn the title stručni specijalist with reference to the field of study, which is used together with the professional title earned upon the completion of professional or university undergraduate study.

Stručni pristupnik

Upon finishing the professional study, which normally lasts less than three years and awards less than 180 ECTS credits, a student shall earn the professional title stručni pristupnik or stručna pristupnica with reference to the field of study.

Stručni prvostupnik

Upon finishing the professional study, which normally lasts at least/minimally three years and awards 180 or more ECTS credits, a student shall earn the professional title stručni prvostupnik (baccalaureus) or stručna prvostupnica (baccalaurea) with reference to the field of study. Exceptionally, students graduating from technical sciences are awarded the professional title stručni prvostupnik (baccalaureus) inženjer, or stručna prvostupnica (baccalaurea) inženjerka with reference to the field of study.

Stručni specijalist

Upon finishing the specialist graduate professional study, which normally lasts one or two years and awards 60-120 ECTS credits, a student shall earn the professional title stručni specijalist or stručna specijalistica with reference to the field of study, which can be used together with the title earned upon the completion of professional or university undergraduate study. Exceptionally, students graduating from technical sciences are awarded the professional title stručni specijalist inženjer or stručna specijalistica inženjerka with reference to the field of study, and students graduating in the fields of medicine, dental medicine or veterinary medicine are awarded the professional title diplomirani or diplomirana with reference to the field of study, which can be used together with the title earned upon the completion of professional or university undergraduate study.

Sveučilišni prvostupnik (baccalaureus)

Upon finishing the undergraduate university study, which normally lasts three or four years and awards 180-240 ECTS credits in accordance with the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), a student shall earn the academic title sveučilišni prvostupnik (baccalaureus) or sveučilišna prvostupnica (baccalaurea) with reference to the field of study.

Sveučilišni specijalist

Upon finishing the postgraduate specialist study, which normally lasts one to two years and awards 60-120 ECTS credits, a student shall earn the academic title sveučilišni specijalist or sveučilišna specijalistica with reference to the field of study.

Undergraduate study

Undergraduate university study normally lasts three to four years and awards 180-240 ECTS credits. Undergraduate study prepares students for graduate study and enables them to seek employment in specific professions.

Unit of learning outcomes

The smallest integral unit of interconnected learning outcomes of a respective level, volume and profile.

Workload

The amount of time an average student needs to complete all planned learning activities (lectures, seminars, projects, practical work, preparation for class, individual work, exams, etc.) that are necessary for the achievement of required learning outcomes.
